The meat cleaver is traditionally buffed with Light Weapon cast with the Insanity Catalyst, especially for PvP. That is probably it’s biggest advantage over similar strength weapons. Meat Cleaver scaling is very odd. It actually gets very good gains from dex, but has some very idiosyncratic scaling behavior. This is EWGF’s suggested build ... Pure Magic. The recommended build for Magician is of course the Pure Magic build. This build will live and die by Magic. Unecessary stats like Vitality, Endurance, Strength, Dexterity, and Faith can be tossed aside as you put everything into Intelligence and Magic.Second Chance, Anti-Magic Field, Evacuate, Cure, and healing miracles ect. are very handy miracles. The toxic swamps everyone complains about are a joke to Faith builds. It would be really nice if Demon's Souls had the Raw upgrade path and buffs like Sunlight Blade and some of the lightning offensive miracles, but that came in later Souls games.I ran a faith build using the Mirdan Hammer and blew through the game. (Dropped by the scale miners, or found in 5-2, the Swamp of Sorrow.) So yeah what it says, I'm kinda just diving into htis game again after not touching it since the general area around release, I'm trying to be saner about my build plans than 'dragon bone smasher' build. so I'm making a faith build, just curious of any advice for early early game like I just beat phalanx ...I'm playing a faith build now and it's really tough in the beginning with no ranged. My magic user seems so much more powerful. However the faith build is strong in later levels with the health regen alone. I have a long bow, but have 15 str and 12 dex. Though it sounds like I could use a compound bow from what I'm reading despite not having 22 ....
